Scalia is wrong: any argument that the founders would support the banning of support weapons is based in ignorance and/or a conscious rejection of what the 2nd Amendment is intended to protect.
The 2nd Amendment is intended to provide the people with the means of resisting govt. tyranny by force of arms. To argue that we do not need or deserve the RIGHT to own automatic weapons is to argue that we should not be armed well enough to defend ourselves from a govt. army that will have automatic weapons. This is a direct contradiction to the founders’ intentions and to the principles of liberty.
